Producing Professional Players Every Year in Just Five Years Since Founding
Strengthening Status as a Powerhouse in College Baseball
Four players from the Dong-eui Institute of Technology baseball team will join professional baseball next year.
The Dong-eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Youngdo) baseball team announced on September 23 that, at the '2026 KBO Rookie Draft' held at Lotte Hotel Seoul on September 17, one player was selected in the draft and two players were chosen as developmental players. In addition, one player who was drafted in the 2024 KBO Rookie Draft exercised his signing rights, bringing the total number of players entering the professional league this year to four.
Now in its fifth year, the Dong-eui Institute of Technology baseball team has solidified its reputation as a powerhouse in college baseball by producing two drafted players and one developmental player last year, and this year producing two drafted players and two developmental players.
This year's draft featured a total of 1,261 participants, including 930 high school graduates, 261 college graduates, 51 early draft applicants, and 19 overseas amateur and professional players. The draft was conducted over 11 rounds in a full draft format.
The players from Dong-eui Institute of Technology who were called to the professional league this year are: Jimin Eom (6th round, 57th overall, Doosan Bears), and as developmental players, Heeseong Lee (Doosan Bears) and Seoyeon Hong (Lotte Giants). In addition, Chiho An (Doosan Bears), who was drafted in the 2024 KBO Rookie Draft, exercised his signing rights and confirmed his entry into the professional league.
The Dong-eui Institute of Technology baseball team has consistently achieved excellent results in national tournaments, establishing itself as a strong team. In the 2025 KUSF College Baseball U-League, the team took first place in Group D and advanced to the championship tournament.
Manager Yeom Jongseok said, "It is very meaningful to have produced another professional player," adding, "The school and the baseball team will continue to work together to nurture outstanding players."
