Jeollanam-do Sports Council Holds First-Ever Sports Club Presidents' Meeting

The Jeollanam-do Sports Council has taken steps to strengthen cooperation by holding, for the first time ever, a meeting with the presidents of local sports clubs to promote community sports and the development of regional sports clubs.

On September 23 at 11:00 a.m., the Jeollanam-do Sports Council held the "2025 Jeonnam Sports Club Presidents' Meeting" in the main conference room on the third floor of the Jeonnam Sports Council building, presided over by Secretary General Son Jeomsik. The meeting served as a platform to share the current status of sports club operations in the province and to discuss future policy development directions together.

This marks the first time the Jeollanam-do Sports Council has organized such a meeting, underscoring its commitment to revitalizing sports clubs in the region.

The meeting was attended by 25 people, including the presidents of 36 sports clubs in the province (19 general-type clubs and 17 single-sport clubs), who actively exchanged opinions.

The agenda included a review of the current status of sports club support projects, discussions on major issues related to the Sports Club Act, a report on the outcomes of the 1st Jeollanam-do Sports Club Sports Festival, and plans for hosting the 3rd National Sports Club Exchange Event in 2025.

Based on the feedback gathered at this meeting, the Jeollanam-do Sports Council plans to further enhance its support for sports club operations and to create an environment where all local residents can easily participate in community sports.

In particular, the 3rd National Sports Club Exchange Event, scheduled to be held in Gangjin, Jeonnam from November 21 to 23, 2025, is expected to be a large-scale event with over 3,000 club members and their families from across the country participating. This event is seen as an important opportunity for Jeonnam to establish itself as a leading model for community sports centered around sports clubs.

The attending sports club presidents expressed their satisfaction, saying, "It was very meaningful to directly share the operational challenges we face on the ground and to discuss policy support directions with the Sports Council. We hope that such regular communication opportunities will continue in the future."

Song Jin-ho, President of the Jeollanam-do Sports Council, stated, "Sports clubs are crucial organizations at the forefront of community sports, responsible for the health and leisure of our residents. We will do our utmost to successfully host the upcoming 3rd National Sports Club Exchange Event and to establish Jeonnam as a leading region in community sports."
