Naju City in South Jeolla Province has completed the payment of disaster relief funds to 2,141 households affected by the heavy rain in July, providing support for the stabilization of residents' lives and the recovery of the local economy ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
Naju City announced on September 23 that it had swiftly distributed disaster relief funds to 2,141 households, including farms, homes, and small business owners, that suffered significant damage from a record 542 millimeters of rainfall between July 16 and 20.
Due to this heavy rain, Naju experienced private property damage amounting to approximately 7.4 billion won, including 2,033 cases of agricultural and forestry damage, 50 cases of residential flooding, and 58 cases of small business flooding.
The city provided differentiated support according to the type and extent of damage, with the total amount of disaster relief funds, including consolation payments, reaching 4.12 billion won.
In particular, recognizing the need for prompt assistance ahead of the Chuseok holiday, the city secured reserve funds and ensured that support was provided to affected residents without delay.
Mayor Yoon Byungtae of Naju City stated, "I hope that this disaster relief fund will offer some comfort to citizens struggling due to the heavy rain," and added, "We will do our utmost to protect the safety and livelihood of our citizens from disasters."
