Participation from 45 Local Governments and 70 Companies
Yangcheon District in Seoul (District Mayor Lee Gijae) announced on the 23rd that it will hold the "2025 Chuseok Direct Transaction Market" at Yangcheon Park for two days from September 25 to 26, ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
This annual event is organized to help reduce the burden of holiday grocery prices for residents and to promote mutual prosperity between regions. Producers sell their goods directly, minimizing distribution costs, while consumers can purchase high-quality local specialties from across the country at prices lower than the market rate, all in one place.
Seventy companies, recommended by 45 local governments nationwide, will participate in the market, offering around 300 items including agricultural, livestock, and marine products, seasonal fruits, and holiday gift sets. This year, 17 new companies from 11 local governments have joined, further diversifying the selection of specialty products. Notable additions include pine nuts from Gapyeong County, Injeolmi rice cakes from Gyeongsan City, salted shrimp from Buan County, Gat Kimchi from Yeosu City, jujubes from Pocheon City, and honey from Haenam County.
Other products for sale include turnip kimchi and grapes from Ganghwa County, melons and new-season peanuts from Gochang County, apples, pears, and chestnuts from Buyeo County, seaweed chips and shiitake mushrooms from Gurye County, dried persimmons from Sangju City, and dried yellow corvina from Yeonggwang County. The cities of Wando, Jindo, Shinan, and Gunsan will showcase fresh and dried seafood such as seaweed, kelp, mackerel, squid, and anchovies.
Customers who make purchases during the event will receive one hour of free parking, and same-day delivery within Yangcheon District will be provided at no cost. A self-service packing booth will also be available to enhance convenience.
In addition, participating companies will voluntarily donate up to 5% of their sales proceeds to support vulnerable groups. Since the launch of this donation campaign in 2023, over 20 million won has been raised and delivered to residents in need.
Lee Gijae, Mayor of Yangcheon District, stated, "This direct transaction market will offer residents high-quality holiday specialties at reasonable prices and provide local farmers with a stable sales channel, creating a platform for mutual growth. I hope many residents will visit and prepare for a warm and bountiful holiday."
