Six Overseas Korean Business Leaders Honored

Wando County in South Jeolla Province announced on the 22nd that it will hold the "10th Jangbogo Hansang Awards" ceremony at Cheonghaejin Sports Center on the 28th.
This event is the centerpiece of the "21st Century Jangbogo Discovery Project," which aims to recognize overseas Korean businesspeople who have contributed to fostering Korean identity and building a global economic community.

This year's highest honor, the "Jangbogo Grand Prize," will be awarded to Kwon Youngho, Chairman of Interbulgo, who achieved great success in deep-sea fishing and trade in Spain and promoted coexistence with the local community. The organizing committee stated that Chairman Kwon was unanimously selected for the award, highly valuing his embodiment of both Korean identity and entrepreneurial spirit.
In addition, a total of six recipients were honored, including: Choi Youngchul, Chairman of Sana Group (Kenya, National Assembly Speaker's Award); Kim Jongsun, Chairman of JS Holdings (United Kingdom, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award); Jeon Mija, Chairman of Akakiko (Austria, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award); Park Wonkyu, Chairman of Next Trading (Colombia, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award); and Ha Sunseop, Chairman of Hanpa Group (Palau, Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Award).
On the day of the ceremony, various side events will also be held, including an awards ceremony for an artificial intelligence (AI) essay contest based on the entrepreneurship and success stories of the awardees, a partnership event promoting cooperation between overseas Korean businesspeople and domestic companies, and an export consultation meeting.
On the following day, the "4th Jangbogo-Choi Kyungjoo Charity Golf Tournament" will be held at Yeongam Acro Country Club, where awardees and local figures will interact through sports and practice the values of giving and sharing.
Since its inception in 2016, the Jangbogo Hansang Awards have honored 55 recipients from 23 countries as of this year. The awards are recognized for revitalizing the local economy by developing overseas markets for regional specialties based on the Jang Hansang human network.
Chairman Kim Deokryong stated, "The Jangbogo Hansang Awards have established themselves as the world's only platform for exchange and cooperation among overseas Korean businesspeople, encompassing business, culture, and healing," adding, "We will continue to strengthen the global Korean network and maintain cooperation with the homeland."
