On September 23, the city of Siheung in Gyeonggi Province announced that it had been selected as the top institution in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's first-half rapid execution evaluation, securing a special grant of 80 million won.
The city explained that it executed 471.5 billion won during the first half of the year, exceeding its target amount of 397.7 billion won by 73.8 billion won. In addition, in the consumption and investment sectors, which have a significant impact on revitalizing the domestic economy, the city executed 136.4 billion won, which is 18.6% more than the second-quarter target of 115 billion won.
Previously, in the first quarter of this year, the city was also selected as an excellent institution in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's evaluation, securing a special grant of 40 million won. In the first-half evaluation organized by Gyeonggi Province, the city was selected as an excellent institution and received a special adjustment grant of 500 million won.
The city explained that it achieved these high results by establishing a rapid execution plan from the beginning of the year, operating an execution management system in which departments participated, and holding at least one rapid execution review meeting per month presided over by Deputy Mayor Park Seungsam.
Meanwhile, in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's rapid execution evaluations, the city was selected as the top institution in the first half of 2022, an excellent institution in the second half of 2022, an excellent institution in both the first and second halves of 2023 (receiving 65 million won), and an excellent institution in the first half of 2024.
Lim Byeongtaek, Mayor of Siheung, said, "In order to provide even a small amount of support to the local economy, we actively executed finances in large-scale projects and in consumption and investment sectors with significant economic ripple effects. We will continue to do our utmost to overcome economic difficulties together with citizens, small business owners, and companies."
