The Paju Citizen Football Club, which has received its first-stage approval to join K League 2, is holding a contest to select its official club name ahead of its professional debut in 2026.
Based in Paju, a major city in the northern part of Gyeonggi Province with a population of 540,000, the Paju Citizen Football Club will be accepting club name proposals through its official Instagram account (@paju_fc) until 6:00 p.m. on October 2. The contest is designed to boost fan engagement, gather a wide range of citizen opinions, and strengthen the club's identity.
Entries should reflect both the identity of the Paju Citizen Football Club and the unique characteristics of Paju, symbolizing or representing the city in some way. Anyone interested in the club is welcome to participate.
The selection process will include a first round of screening by the club's secretariat, followed by a second internal review, after which five finalists will be chosen. The final ranking will then be determined by a public vote.
To encourage participation, a variety of prizes sponsored by NongHyup have been prepared. The first-place winner will receive a 65-inch television, the second-place winner will receive the latest smartphone, and the third-place winner will receive the latest robot vacuum cleaner. Additionally, the participant who writes the wittiest comment and the entrant who receives the most 'likes' and comments will each be awarded the latest wireless earbuds.
Kim Jeongyeol, chairman of the Paju Citizen Football Club, stated, "Through this club name contest, we have created a meaningful opportunity to shape the future of the club together with our citizens," adding, "We hope many citizens will participate and share their valuable ideas."
