Mayor Lee Sangho stated, "This demolition is not simply about tearing down an old building, but marks the starting point for Taebaek City to prepare for a new future." He emphasized, "Please make safety the top priority during the demolition process, and ensure that the subsequent construction of the training center proceeds smoothly without any setbacks."
Once completed, the Taebaek Rest Training Center will serve as a customized facility for off-season training teams, while some areas will also be open to citizens for recreational sports. The goal is to establish an open sports space that can be used by both professional athletes and local residents.
This project is expected to revitalize the Mungok-Sodo-dong area and contribute to boosting the local economy. A Taebaek City official stated, "By linking the pristine natural environment of Taebaeksan Mountain with the training center, we plan to develop Sodo Village as a special zone for off-season training and maximize the synergy between local sports and the tourism industry."
