On September 22 (local time), President Trump held a press conference at the White House, where he said that the FDA will inform physicians that the use of acetaminophen may be "associated with an increased risk of autism."

President Trump explained, "Acetaminophen is widely known as Tylenol, and taking it during pregnancy can significantly increase the risk of autism in babies. Therefore, taking Tylenol is not recommended." He added, "The FDA will strongly advise limiting the use of Tylenol during pregnancy unless it is medically necessary," citing "unbearably high fever" as an example of a medically necessary situation. He continued, "If it is truly unbearable and intolerable, there is no other choice but to take it, but it should be taken only in minimal amounts."
