Machang Bridge, Geoga Bridge, Bulmosan Tunnel, Palyong Tunnel, and More

Gyeongsangnam-do has announced that all privately operated roads in the province will be toll-free during the upcoming Chuseok holiday.

On September 22, the provincial government stated that it made this decision to participate in the central government's "Chuseok Holiday Livelihood Stabilization Measures," aiming to reduce the financial burden on holiday travelers and attract more tourists to Gyeongsangnam-do during the holiday period.

As a result of this decision, from midnight on October 4 to midnight on October 7, tolls on Machang Bridge, Geoga Bridge, and the Bulmosan Tunnel between Changwon and Busan will be reduced to zero.

The province expects approximately 650,000 vehicles to use these roads during this period and plans to cover the entire 1.6 billion won in toll fees with provincial funds.

Additionally, privately operated roads managed by Changwon City, such as the Palyong Tunnel and the road between Jigae and Namsan, will also be toll-free, with Changwon City covering the fees.

The province plans to inform the public in advance through electronic road signs, banners, the provincial website, and social media channels on the privately operated roads.

Furthermore, the province will manage the road environment by inspecting road facilities and establishing road safety management measures.

Park Sungjun, Director of the Department of Transportation and Construction, said, "We expect that exempting all privately operated road tolls in the province during this Chuseok holiday will reduce the economic burden on returning travelers and help revitalize the local economy by increasing the number of visitors to the region. We hope that both residents and travelers will enjoy a safe and happy Chuseok holiday."
