On the morning of the same day, Prime Minister Kim visited the Nonghyup Hanaro Mart in Yangjaedong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, where he received a briefing on the progress of the Chuseok holiday goods supply stabilization measures from Vice Minister Kang Hyungseok of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and others.
Prior to this, Prime Minister Kim also visited the Garak Agricultural and Fishery Wholesale Market in Garak-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul to check the supply status and wholesale and retail prices of major holiday goods such as fruits and livestock products. He personally inspected the shipping and auction sites for apples and pears, and received a report on the supply status of holiday goods from Moon Youngpyo, President of the Seoul Agro-Fisheries & Food Corporation.
Prime Minister Kim encouraged distribution officials, saying, "Due to this year's heatwaves and heavy rainfall, it has been difficult to manage the supply of agricultural products. Many people are working hard until early morning to ensure the smooth supply of holiday goods for Chuseok." He added, "The Garak Agricultural and Fishery Wholesale Market is an important place that stably supplies food to residents in the metropolitan area. Please work together so that everyone can enjoy an abundant Chuseok holiday."
In this regard, the government has prepared the 'Chuseok Livelihood Stabilization Measures' and plans to supply 170,000 tons of 21 key holiday goods, including cabbage, radishes, apples, and pears, which is 1.6 times more than the usual supply, to meet the increased demand during the holiday. In addition, to ease the burden on consumers, 90 billion won will be allocated to provide up to 50% discounts on agricultural, livestock, and fishery products. The government will also continue activities to protect consumers, such as strengthening monitoring of illegal distribution practices.
