Attendance at the Opening Ceremony of the 35th Daejeon Sports Festival for the Disabled
Hwang Kyungah, Vice Chairperson of Daejeon City Council, stated, "Daejeon City Council will do its utmost to lay the foundation for people with disabilities to actively participate in sports activities by discovering and nurturing athletes with disabilities and supporting sports competitions."
On September 22, at the opening ceremony of the 35th Daejeon Sports Festival for the Disabled held at the Daejeon Metropolitan City Sports Center for the Disabled, Vice Chairperson Hwang wished for the safe progress of the event and pledged policy support to promote sports for people with disabilities.
This large-scale sports event, hosted by the Daejeon Sports Association for the Disabled, featured 17 lifestyle sports competitions and 10 inclusive sports programs, with over 1,700 participants including people with disabilities. The opening ceremony began with a speech from the Mayor of Daejeon, followed by congratulatory remarks from key guests and a commemorative photo session, attended by representatives of local organizations and institutions, people with disabilities, and citizens.
Vice Chairperson Hwang Kyungah emphasized, "As the oldest among the 17 city and provincial competitions nationwide, today's event has played a significant role not only in expanding and revitalizing sports for people with disabilities but also in improving public awareness. All of this has been possible thanks to the passion and dedication of the athletes, their families, and everyone involved in the event."
