[2025 Asia Construction Grand Prize] Lotte Construction 'VL Le West', Korea's Largest Hotel-Style Senior Town

Lotte Construction, which won the Asia Economy Grand Prize in the Smart Residential category at this year's Asia Construction Awards, is presenting a new residential model to address Korea's aging society through its senior-focused housing brand, VL Le West. In particular, VL Le West, located in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, has implemented senior-customized innovations in every aspect, including location, transportation, services, and design.

Lotte Group mobilized its group-wide service capabilities to build VL Le West with the aim of providing residents with "freedom from household chores," "everyday health management," and "community revitalization through resident interaction." VL Le West is considered one of the "Big Three" in Korea's senior housing market, alongside Samsung Noble County and Konkuk University The Classic 500. With 810 units, it is the largest hotel-style rental senior town in the country, setting a new standard in the market.

The location conditions are also a major strength. It is adjacent to lifestyle, leisure, and cultural infrastructure such as Gangseo-gu Office, Seoul Botanic Park, and LG Arts Center. Residents can access Subway Lines 5 and 9 as well as the Airport Railroad, allowing them to reach Seoul Station in 18 minutes and Samseong-dong in Gangnam in 45 minutes. VL Le West is part of a large-scale complex that includes an exhibition and convention center, hotel, shopping mall, offices, and officetels. The complex covers a land area of 83,000 square meters (about 25,000 pyeong) and a total floor area of 860,000 square meters (about 260,000 pyeong), making it twice the size of COEX in Samseong-dong.

Hotel-style residential services, leveraging Lotte Hotel's expertise, are provided, with support for household activities and community programs covering all aspects of daily life. In addition, Lotte Medical Foundation and Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital are linked to offer comprehensive medical and health management services, establishing a systematic system to oversee every aspect of seniors' daily lives.

This complex consists of four buildings with a total of 810 units, spanning from six basement levels to 15 floors above ground. It goes beyond mere physical scale by introducing customized layouts that consider the characteristics and safety of each resident. For active seniors who wish to maintain a vibrant lifestyle after retirement, a "one room, one bathroom" design (with a bathroom in every room) has been applied. All units feature sliding doors and step-free designs to enhance safety. The internal circulation is designed in a loop to minimize unnecessary movement and maximize living efficiency.
