Through Visits to Educational Institutions and International Organizations in the Netherlands and Belgium
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) announced on the 22nd that it has embarked on a visit to leading overseas educational institutions to observe advanced educational models in areas such as innovative education, multicultural and international education, and environmental and vocational education, with the aim of incorporating these models into Busan's education system.
This visit is being led by Superintendent Kim Seokjun and includes a delegation of five members, such as the Director of Democratic Citizenship Education, the Director of Digital Future Education, and the Head of the Elementary Education Supervision Team. The delegation will be in the Netherlands and Belgium for seven days and five nights, from September 21 to September 27.
The delegation will benchmark outstanding educational systems related to the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education's key initiatives, including AI-based digital education, internationalization education, and democratic citizenship education. Major institutions to be visited include the European School Brussels (an official EU-operated educational institution known for multilingual immersion education and a multicultural learning environment), Wageningen University (a university specializing in agriculture, environment, and life sciences), and Steve Jobs School (famous for its iPad-based self-directed learning).
They will also visit international organizations such as the Embassies of the Republic of Korea in the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as the headquarters of the European Union, to promote the establishment of cooperative relationships in the field of education.
Superintendent Kim Seokjun stated, "By integrating examples from advanced European educational sites into Busan's education, we will create an environment where students can develop future competencies and grow as global citizens." He added, "In particular, this will be an opportunity to redefine the direction of Busan's education in the areas of AI, sustainability, and multicultural education."
