Vice Mayor Bae Sangyo, relevant bureau and division heads, all 29 departments including affiliated offices, the Sokcho City Facilities Management Corporation, and the Sokcho Cultural Tourism Foundation will attend the meeting. They will review the key projects for 2026-including pledges, major initiatives, public contest projects, and new ventures-and seek to efficiently allocate the main budget.
The main areas under review are the progress of major projects scheduled for completion by 2026, such as the Seorak-dong reconstruction project, the creation of an ecological trail at the Native Plant Garden, the Daepo-dong Area 1 (Hwachaemaeul) urban regeneration project, and the construction of the Sokcho English Library. In addition, comprehensive plans for new projects aimed at sustainable future development will be examined, including the designation of the Peace Economy Special Zone, the Sokcho Beach tourism hub linkage project, improvement of alleyway landscapes in Sangdomun Stone Wall Village, expansion of the Seoraksan National Park access road, road construction around the planned Sokcho Middle School site, and the establishment of a smart safety experience center.
To ensure fiscal soundness and stable progress of pending projects in 2026, the city will focus its efforts on securing national and provincial funds, strengthening cooperation with the central government and related agencies, and enhancing citizens' sense of achievement regarding the completion rate of the 8th administration's pledged projects and city governance outcomes. The city will also implement a fiscal management strategy to efficiently allocate its limited resources.
Mayor Lee Byungseon stated, "This report meeting is an important process that not only marks the conclusion of the 8th administration but also prepares for the sustainable future of Sokcho City. We will thoroughly review each department's key projects, address shortcomings, and reconsider unnecessary initiatives, concentrating all efforts on efficient budget allocation and effective project implementation."
