Korea Post Launches Emergency Operations for Chuseok Holiday, Expects 18.87 Million Parcels Provided by Korea Post Headquarters

The Korea Post Headquarters expects to receive approximately 18.87 million parcel mail items nationwide during this special delivery period, averaging 1.57 million parcels per day, which is higher than last year's Chuseok. To handle this, the agency plans to operate 24 regional sorting centers and 3 logistics centers at full capacity. About 20,000 temporary workers will be secured for parcel sorting and related tasks, and a budget of approximately 3.2 billion won will be allocated to support delivery and sorting personnel.

The Korea Post Headquarters has requested that senders follow several precautions to ensure parcels are delivered safely and promptly. These include using ice packs for seafood and meat, repackaging items wrapped in nonwoven fabric, Styrofoam, or cloth into cardboard boxes, accurately writing postal codes and addresses, and providing a reachable phone number.

Cho Haekeun, Head of Korea Post Headquarters, stated, "Chuseok is the largest holiday in Korea for expressing gratitude, and we will do our utmost to deliver the parcels safely. We ask for your understanding in case some deliveries are delayed due to a temporary surge in parcel volume."
