The district has held annual events to commemorate Senior Citizens' Day, expressing gratitude for the dedication of seniors and creating opportunities to energize the community. This year, the festival is designed as a comprehensive event, featuring a variety of hands-on experiences as well as preliminary programs in which seniors can directly participate.

As a preliminary event, at 2 p.m. on September 25, the "ON Air Smart Senior Center Singing Contest" will take place, with nine smart senior centers participating simultaneously in real time. Using Internet of Things (IoT)-based health management systems and smart TVs/video platforms, the event will be broadcast live from the Mokdong Senior Smart Education Center studio.

The main event will be held at 2 p.m. on September 26 in the Grand Theater of Yangcheon Cultural Center, inviting around 1,000 local seniors. The first part of the ceremony will include commendations for 36 exemplary seniors, followed by performances by seniors and a raffle draw. In the second part, the congratulatory stage, trot singers Lee Harin and Kim Yongpil will perform in the "Filial Love Concert."

Additionally, from 1 p.m. on the day of the event, an outdoor fair with 22 booths will be held in front of the cultural center. The fair will offer a variety of activities, including health programs such as InBody health checks, blood pressure and blood sugar management, and dementia and depression prevention counseling, as well as hands-on booths for making natural loofahs, eco-friendly soap, and calligraphy, providing a wide range of enjoyable experiences.

Lee Kijae, Mayor of Yangcheon District, stated, "The abundance and progress we enjoy today are thanks to the dedication and hard work of our seniors," adding, "I hope this event brings joy and comfort to our seniors." Mayor Lee also emphasized, "We will continue to promote a variety of policies to support a healthy and happy life for our seniors in the future."
