Cheorwon County in Gangwon Province successfully concluded the 22nd Cheorwon DMZ International Peace Marathon on the 21st. More than 7,500 participants ran along a special course crossing the DMZ, set against the backdrop of clear autumn skies and golden fields, continuing the event's steady popularity for over 20 years.
This year's marathon, marking the second year of being selected for sponsorship by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, significantly enhanced safety and convenience for participants. Improvements included expanding the shower tunnel, adding an ice cream zone, and operating running pacemakers composed of active firefighters, allowing runners to enjoy the event in a more comfortable and safe environment.
The marathon, which features a course symbolizing Cheorwon's beautiful natural environment and peace, offered a variety of divisions including the full course (42.195 km), half course (21.0975 km), and 10 km course.
