24-Hour Emergency Operations
“Comprehensive Chuseok Situation Room” in Full Operation
Songpa District in Seoul (Mayor Sukang Seok) will implement a “Comprehensive Chuseok Holiday Plan” from October 2 to 10 in celebration of Chuseok. This plan comprises 19 initiatives across five areas: strengthening resident safety, supporting public welfare, assisting with transportation, resolving daily inconveniences, and establishing public service discipline, to ensure that residents can spend the long holiday comfortably and safely.
The district is prioritizing “ensuring resident safety” and will operate a 24-hour “Comprehensive Chuseok Situation Room” throughout the holiday period. A total of 325 staff members will work in shifts, both day and night, at the district office’s situation room and in specialized response teams to prepare for any emergencies. In addition, a Disaster Response Headquarters will be in operation to respond to disasters such as typhoons, and preparations have been made to provide temporary shelters and relief supplies quickly in the event of displaced residents.
Inspections of disaster-prone facilities will also be strengthened. Large-scale construction sites, multi-family housing construction sites, temporary group structures, and parks will be inspected in advance, and patrols will be increased during the holiday. To ensure the safety of holiday goods, hygiene inspections will be conducted in advance at businesses handling processed and manufactured food products.
To stabilize holiday prices, the district will monitor the price trends of major Chuseok goods until October 1 and simultaneously guide and enforce the price labeling system. To support marginalized neighbors, gifts will be delivered to 176 senior centers, the Songpa District branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association, and three senior homes, and patrols for homeless individuals will be strengthened.
Measures have also been prepared to resolve daily inconveniences. The district will provide advance notice of garbage collection schedules during the holiday and deploy mobile teams to enhance cleaning in vulnerable areas. To prevent transportation issues, illegal parking and late-night taxi violations will be monitored, and 30 public, school, and government-affiliated parking lots will be opened free of charge.
To minimize medical service gaps, 1,022 emergency medical institutions, hospitals and clinics, and 578 pharmacies will be designated and operated. In addition, on October 6 and 7, an emergency medical team will be on duty in the first-floor clinic of the Songpa District Health Center.
Mayor Sukang Seok stated, “We have prepared a tailored comprehensive Chuseok plan to ensure all residents can enjoy a comfortable and safe holiday,” adding, “Given the extended holiday period, we will mobilize all available resources to prevent any administrative gaps in disaster response, public welfare, cleaning, transportation, and parking.”
