On this day, Mayor Jin served as the chief ritualist, praying for the successful hosting of the festival and the well-being of the residents. The prayer ceremony was attended by over 100 people, including Mayor Jin, representatives from Yangcheon Hyanggyo, the Yangcheon Heo Clan Association-descendants of Heo Jun, the Heojun Cultural Promotion Foundation, and local residents.
The 'Heojun Intro Festival' held on this day is a preliminary event ahead of the 'Heojun Festival,' which will take place from October 18 to 19 in the areas around Seoul Botanic Park and Magok Square. Under the theme of 'Tradition and Healing,' the festival featured performances blending tradition and modernity, as well as a variety of diverse programs.
Mayor Jin stated, "The Heojun Intro Festival is a valuable occasion to inherit the historical significance of Heo Jun and the spirit of the local community together with residents," adding, "I hope families, couples, and friends will visit the festival and enjoy a range of programs where tradition and modernity harmonize."
Meanwhile, the Heojun Festival, Gangseo District's representative cultural event, attracted a record 150,000 visitors last year and was held with great success.
