On September 20, Jeong Cheongrae, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, commented on the decision by Special Prosecutor Cho Eunseok's team to summon former President Yoon Sukyeol for questioning over the 'Pyongyang drone infiltration allegations,' stating, "Crimes of treason against the state are even graver than insurrection."
That afternoon, through a post on the social networking service Facebook, Jeong said, "The crime of being the ringleader of insurrection is punishable only by death or life imprisonment, so even if a charge of treason is added, the sentence remains the same. However, for the sake of historical justice, we must investigate this matter thoroughly to the very end."
He continued, "There are two areas that the special investigation into insurrection has not yet addressed: charges of treason and the investigation into the prosecution itself have not even begun." He added, "Since the special prosecutor's term has been extended and the number of investigators has increased, the investigation must be even more thorough." He further emphasized, "Every crime must be uncovered and punished without exception."
