Jang Donghyuk on Cho Heedae Meeting Allegation: "Democratic Party Staged Nationwide Fraud with Fabricated Audio"

Jang Donghyuk, Leader of the People Power Party, criticized the Democratic Party of Korea regarding the alleged meeting between Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae and former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, stating, "The Democratic Party brought a fabricated audio file to the National Assembly and staged a nationwide fraud against the entire country."

On September 20, at a press briefing in the National Assembly, Jang said, "This is a heinous and serious crime stemming from a massive conspiracy to seize control of the judiciary."

He addressed the fact that lawmakers Seo Youngkyo and Boo Seungchan of the Democratic Party, among others, had raised suspicions about the meeting, but all parties involved had officially denied the allegations. He stated, "Had they succeeded in forcing the resignation of the Chief Justice, it would have marked the beginning of a one-man dictatorship in South Korea. The Democratic Party is attempting to dismantle the opposition, the prosecution, and the judiciary-any obstacles to a one-man dictatorship-and ultimately amend the Constitution to establish the framework for such a regime."

He further criticized, "One pillar of a one-man dictatorship is the seizure of the judiciary, and that is why the Democratic Party is acting with such frenzy to oust the Chief Justice."

Regarding the Democratic Party’s proposal to establish a special court for insurrection cases, Jang said, "Now they are frantically trying to implant a cancerous tumor called the Special Court for Insurrection within the judiciary."

Jang asserted, "It has become clear that increasing the number of Supreme Court justices, ousting the Chief Justice, and establishing a special court are all part of a blueprint to transition to a one-man dictatorship through this scheme. When you look at these actions, it is evident that the Democratic Party is an anti-constitutional political terrorist group. The real unconstitutional party that should be dissolved is the Democratic Party."

Regarding the special prosecutor’s search and seizure of his own party’s membership list, Jang emphasized, "If we remain silent in the face of the special prosecutor’s lawless execution of the warrant, the rule of law in South Korea will die. We will definitely file a complaint."

He also responded to the Democratic Party’s claim that the People Power Party should be dissolved if it is linked to the Unification Church, saying, "I interpret this as the Democratic Party declaring that it will not recognize members of certain religious organizations as citizens. It is truly pitiful that the Democratic Party exploits religion for political purposes and uses it as a tool for division."
