Universal Orlando Park Open for Just 4 Months
Victim Was a Man in His 30s, Lost Consciousness After Ride
Autopsy Reveals "Blunt Force Injuries to Multiple Areas of the Body"
A man died from blunt force trauma after riding a roller coaster at a newly opened amusement park in Universal Orlando Resort, Florida.
According to CNN on September 18 (local time), the Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orlando announced that a 32-year-old man was found unconscious after riding the "Stardust Racers" roller coaster at the Epic Universe theme park within Universal Orlando Resort the previous day.
The man was immediately transported to a hospital but ultimately passed away. The medical examiner concluded that the cause of death was accidental, stating that the autopsy revealed blunt force injuries to multiple areas of the man's body. However, specific details such as the exact locations of the injuries were not disclosed. There is currently no evidence that the man fell or was ejected from the ride during the attraction.

Dennis Speigel, CEO of an international theme park service consulting firm, described the autopsy results as "quite shocking" and noted that "they raise more questions than answers." He added, "It needs to be clarified whether the injuries were to the head or chest, whether he was struck in multiple places, whether the deceased was properly seated, and whether the incident was caused by the ride itself or by some other factor."
Accident Occurred at Theme Park Opened in May
Universal representatives stated, "We are deeply shocked by this tragic incident and extend our heartfelt condolences to the family," adding that the attraction is currently closed. Universal describes the roller coaster involved in the accident as "a breathtaking dual-launch roller coaster that reaches an incredible speed of up to 100 kilometers per hour." The ride features a track approximately 1,505 meters long and a maximum height of about 41 meters, making it a high-speed, high-intensity attraction.
Epic Universe is the fourth new theme park at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida and opened in May. The amusement park features five themed zones and a hotel with 500 rooms.
