Democratic Party at 41%, People Power Party at 24%

President Lee Jaemyung's approval rating for his administration has risen, recovering to 60%. In a public opinion poll regarding the next president, Cho Kuk, the Emergency Committee Chair of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, and Jang Donghyuk, the leader of the People Power Party, ranked at the top.


According to a public opinion poll released by Gallup on September 19 (conducted from September 16 to 18 via telephone interviews with 1,001 people aged 18 and over nationwide using mobile phones, with a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, and a response rate of 11.8%), the positive evaluation of President Lee's job performance was 60%, up 2 percentage points from last week. The negative evaluation was 31%, down 3 percentage points.


Among those who positively evaluated President Lee's job performance (596 respondents), 13% cited "the economy and people's livelihoods" and 12% cited "communication" as reasons. Among those who gave a negative evaluation (310 respondents), 18% pointed to "diplomacy" and 10% cited "excessive welfare and livelihood support funds" as reasons.

In the survey on future political leaders for the next presidency, no standout figure emerged, but Emergency Committee Chair Cho (8%) and Leader Jang (7%) led the field. Jeong Cheongrae, leader of the Democratic Party, followed with 4%. Lee Junseok, leader of the Reform New Party, Prime Minister Kim Minseok, former People Power Party leader Han Donghoon, and former Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moonsu each received 3%.


Regarding party support, the Democratic Party recorded 41%, down 1 percentage point from last week. The People Power Party remained unchanged at 24%.
