Gold Award for Mobile Design Identity
Praised for Effectively Conveying the 'Essential' Design Message
Silver Award for Galaxy Tab S10 Series
Samsung Electronics received 47 awards at the 'IDEA (International Design Excellence Awards) 2025' international design competition.
On September 19, the company announced that this year, customer-centric lifestyle designs received high praise, leading to a large number of awards. These included differentiated designs incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainable advanced concept designs that reflect social values.
IDEA, organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) since 1980, evaluates design innovation, user experience, and social contribution. This year, winners were announced in a total of 20 categories, including industrial products, consumer technology, digital interaction, and packaging.
At IDEA 2025, the 'Samsung Mobile Design Visual Identity System' and the 'Inclusive Home Appliance Design Advanced Concept for People with Low Vision' both received the highest honor, the Gold Award.
Samsung Electronics' 'Samsung Mobile Design Visual Identity System,' which won the Gold Award at 'IDEA 2025.'
The Samsung Mobile Design Visual Identity System is characterized by unifying the diverse form factors of Galaxy mobile products under a single visual identity. By intuitively expressing the unique features of each mobile form factor according to specific rules, the system effectively conveyed the design message of 'Essential,' emphasizing the intrinsic value of each product.
The Inclusive Home Appliance Design Advanced Concept for People with Low Vision enhances accessibility so that not only people with visual impairments and seniors, but all users can use home appliances more easily and conveniently. It standardizes the shape and color scheme of control buttons across various products and provides visual, auditory, and tactile guidance through light, sound, and raised embossing. This allows users, including those with low vision, to intuitively understand and operate the products more easily.
The Galaxy Tab S10 series, which won the Silver Award, is a premium tablet optimized for a large display and equipped with AI. Users can easily access various AI features with the S Pen, and enjoy an AI-optimized tablet experience, such as managing all connected home devices at once through SmartThings' '3D Map View.'
The modular space design advanced concept 'Samsung Smart Modular House' and the 'Digital Twin' of the building integrated management solution (b.IoT) also received Silver Awards. Three designs received Bronze Awards: the Galaxy S24 FE, the Vision AI Onscreen Story, and the EHS Mono System, a residential heat pump heating device.
Samsung Electronics had 39 designs recognized in various categories, including AI products, advanced concepts, and exhibitions. Products that provided differentiated experiences to users by incorporating AI technology particularly stood out. These included the Galaxy Z Fold and Flip 6, the Smart Monitor M9, and the Bespoke AI One Body washer and dryer with a stacked design.
The company was also recognized in concept design and exhibition categories outside of product design. The 'Bojagi (BOJAGI)' advanced concept for package design and the 'Future of Coexistence' exhibition on design philosophy were among the winners.
Mauro Porcini, Chief Design Officer (CDO) of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics, stated, "Innovation that stems from technology and human empathy enriches all of our lives," adding, "We will continue to overcome the limits of technology, connect people warmly, and ensure that everyone can create a brighter future together."
