KoAct Bio Healthcare Active Becomes No.1 Domestic Bio and Healthcare ETF by Net Asset Value

Samsung Active Asset Management announced on September 19 that 'KoAct Bio Healthcare Active,' Korea's first bio active ETF, has become the largest domestic bio and healthcare ETF by net asset value.

Since its listing in August 2023, KoAct Bio Healthcare Active has shown steady growth, reaching a net asset value of 230.3 billion won as of the previous day. Its growth into the largest net asset value product among domestic bio and healthcare sector ETFs is attributed to its differentiated active management performance.

It recorded an 18.6% return over the past three months and a 34.5% return since the beginning of the year. Among domestic bio and healthcare sector ETFs, it ranked first in returns across major periods. By actively selecting stocks within the bio and healthcare sector, it has achieved differentiated returns.

KoAct Bio Healthcare Active is Korea’s first active ETF investing in the bio and healthcare sector. In the era of population aging, it invests in bio healthcare companies expected to experience high growth through the convergence of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Based on financial indicators and industry data analysis, the fund identifies companies with high growth potential through analyst research and company visits. As an active ETF, it seeks sustainable performance by reflecting both short-term momentum and long-term growth potential.

The portfolio consists of stocks covering the entire healthcare value chain, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, beauty devices, and AI diagnostics. Major holdings include: ▲ABL Bio (12.9%) ▲Alteogen (10.1%) ▲Ligochem Bio (9.1%) ▲Samsung Biologics (6.7%) ▲SK Biopharmaceuticals (6.4%) ▲Celltrion (4.6%) ▲Hanmi Pharmaceutical (4.2%).

Shim Joohyun, manager at Samsung Active Asset Management, explained, "The KoAct Bio Healthcare Active ETF continues to deliver high returns and rapid net asset growth by proactively capturing market changes and actively reflecting them in ETF management." He added, "Both individuals and institutions are investing with confidence that differentiated returns can be achieved in the bio healthcare sector through active stock selection."

He stated, "We will continue to strive to deliver differentiated results to investors by reflecting the structural growth potential of the global healthcare industry."
