Busan City and BISTEP to Host "AI Policy Colloquium"

September 26 at BEXCO: Discussing Strategies for the Growth of Busan's AI Industry

Busan Metropolitan City and the Busan Institute of Science and Technology Promotion (President Kim Youngbu, BISTEP) will host the "AI Policy Colloquium" in conjunction with the "11th Busan R&D Week" at Exhibition Hall 2 of BEXCO on September 26.

This colloquium has been organized to explore strategies for fostering and growing the Busan AI industry, which is undergoing a major transformation, in response to changes in the global AI market and the new government's policy direction.

The event will feature two keynote presentations focusing on: ▲ Strategies for building an AI industry ecosystem ▲ Strategies for nurturing talent.

Lee Jooseok, Director of the Industrial AI Convergence Center at the Korea Artificial Intelligence Association, will present on "Strategies for Activating the AI Industry Ecosystem and LLM Application Cases." Kim Seungil, Chair of the AI Future Forum at the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies, will speak on "Why Do Corporate AI Transformations Fail?: A Talent Development Perspective."

The subsequent panel discussion will be moderated by Son Janghyeok, Director of the AI Policy Center at the Korea Artificial Intelligence Association. Panelists will include Yoo Yonggyun, Head of the AI Application Research Department at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, and Jung Hyuntae, AI Industry Policy Specialist at the Busan Metropolitan City Department of Artificial Intelligence Software. They will engage in an in-depth discussion on strategies for fostering the AI industry.

Kim Youngbu, President of BISTEP, stated, "As we enter the era of AI-driven transformation and the impact of AI spreads across all industries, it is important to develop strategies and policies tailored to regional characteristics and to respond comprehensively." He added, "We hope this colloquium will serve as a starting point for concretizing Busan-style AI industry strategies and cooperative governance."

The "11th Busan R&D Week" will take place from September 25 to 26 at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 2 (Conference Rooms 121-126 on the first floor), featuring a variety of programs including keynote and invited lectures, policy forums, and performance presentations.
