Nine Works Selected Across Drama, Variety, Educational, and Documentary Categories
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency announced on the 18th that the Netflix series "When Life Gives You Tangerines" was awarded the Grand Prize at the New Media Content Awards ceremony held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 17th.
Produced by Pan Entertainment, this work depicts the lives and adventures of young people in Jeju across all four seasons. It topped the Netflix non-English show category, demonstrating the global competitiveness of Korean dramas.
The Excellence Award in the mid- to long-form drama category went to "Heo Sikdang," which tells the story of Heo Gyun from the Joseon Dynasty experiencing events in the modern era. In the single-episode and short-form drama category, the Excellence Award was given to "Do Ghosts Get Washed Too?" which centers on a laundromat that helps ghosts find peace.
In the variety show category, "Online Parenting King: Flower Kid Project," which follows five children as they grow through various lessons, won the Excellence Award. In the educational category, "Every Family," which sheds light on the lives of LGBTQ+ families, also received the Excellence Award. The documentary category’s Excellence Award went to "The Gift," which documents Korean artists dedicating music to comfort Korean War veterans.
The Special Award, given to businesses that have contributed to the development of new media, was awarded to Tving and Bambu Network.
