At approximately 3:22 p.m. on September 18, a man in his seventies fell overboard from a 300-ton fish transport vessel registered in Yeosu, about 6 nautical miles south of Dongdumal, Gadeokdo, Busan.
Upon receiving the report, the Changwon Coast Guard dispatched three patrol vessels, two inshore rescue boats, a rescue team, an aircraft, and three vessels from related agencies to search for the missing person.
According to the Changwon Coast Guard, a report was received stating that crew member A appeared to have fallen into the sea while the vessel was en route from Dadaepo Port in Busan to Geomundo Port in Yeosu.
Currently, a high seas warning is in effect for the southern and southeastern offshore areas where the accident occurred.
Under cloudy skies, a northeasterly wind of 8 to 10 meters per second is blowing, wave heights are between 2 and 2.5 meters, maximum visibility is 3 miles, and the water temperature is approximately 27 degrees Celsius.
