Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Cho Sangrae) announced on September 18 that its official online shopping mall, Gokseong Mall, surpassed a cumulative sales total of 2 billion won as of September 2025. After reaching 1 billion won in sales in October last year, the mall added another 1 billion won in a short period, achieving remarkable growth.

Since its launch in September 2023, Gokseong Mall has grown into an online distribution platform directly connecting nationwide consumers and local farmers. Currently, more than 120 businesses are participating, offering over 600 high-quality agricultural and specialty products such as rice, melons, Korean beef, and processed taro foods.

The growth has been attributed to timely promotional events and active marketing efforts. Notable examples include the Jeongwol Daeboreum and Lunar New Year promotions, the Rose Festival-linked "All Day Sale," the Gokseong Melon Seasonal Special, and up to 40% discount events for Chuseok.

In addition, offline promotional events in collaboration with major distribution channels such as Shinsegae Department Store Centum City and Hanaro Mart Yangjae Branch have significantly raised the profile of the Gokseong Mall brand nationwide and contributed to attracting new members.

Gokseong Mall has established itself as a platform that goes beyond a simple online shopping mall, realizing the values of mutual growth and sharing. By voluntarily donating a portion of their sales, participating businesses enabled 37 vulnerable households with children in Gokseong to receive financial support through the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation as of 2024.

Recognizing this spirit of sharing, the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation invested additional resources to launch the "Gokseong Mall Child Love Consumption Coupon Support Project" in collaboration with Gokseong Mall. Through this project, 115 vulnerable households with children in the county each received a 100,000 won consumption coupon, significantly expanding the scale of support.

The consumption coupons are used to purchase products from 65 local businesses that participated in the sharing initiative. With the coupons available for 436 items, including eco-friendly rice, Korean beef, melons, and taro, the program has created a virtuous cycle for both welfare and the local economy.

Consumer-friendly services have also contributed to growth. The "Wednesday Special Price" event held every week, free shipping on all products, and coupon distribution via the KakaoTalk channel have led to an increase in membership and repeat purchases. The number of Gokseong Mall members has now surpassed 33,000.

This achievement is the result of the eighth popularly elected county administration’s initiative to strengthen direct sales for small-scale farms through Gokseong Mall. The county has provided support measures to help small farms join the online platform and has strengthened joint marketing with external malls, thereby making concrete progress toward the county’s goal of "a prosperous rural community where farmers thrive."

A Gokseong Mall official stated, "Achieving cumulative sales of 2 billion won in such a short period after reaching 1 billion won last year is a valuable accomplishment created by farmers, consumers, and the administration working together," adding, "We will continue to develop Gokseong Mall as a stable source of income for farms and as a reliable distribution platform for consumers."
