Chonnam National University has signed an agreement with Orebro University in Sweden, officially establishing its first Swedish sister university. This achievement is significant as it expands the university's international cooperation, which had previously focused on Asia and the United States, to all of Europe, and pioneers Northern Europe-previously a gap in collaboration-as a new strategic hub.

Chonnam National University announced on the 18th that it participated in "EAIE 2025," the largest international exchange event in Europe, held in Gothenburg, Sweden from the 6th to the 14th, and conducted exchange meetings with 49 universities from 22 countries. During the event, the Chonnam National University delegation actively engaged in practical discussions, including signing new agreements, reviewing and strengthening existing partnerships, and expanding multilateral cooperation networks.

EAIE 2025 brought together more than 7,000 international exchange professionals from over 100 countries. Representing Chonnam National University, Cho Jinhyung, Director of External Affairs, Kang Euihyuk, Deputy Director of International Cooperation, Kang Sinhye, Head of International Exchange, and Choi Jiyeon, Administrative Officer, participated in the Study in Korea joint booth for Korean universities. The delegation held meetings with major universities from Germany, France, the United States, Canada, and Japan, discussing topics such as expanding outbound and inbound student exchanges, cooperation on dual degree and joint research programs, and strategies to broaden Korean language education programs.

In addition, the delegation was invited to various networking events, including a Hong Kong sister university reception and a roundtable for Korean universities hosted by KAFSA. During these events, there were active discussions on specific agendas such as addressing imbalances in student exchange, expanding new outbound programs, joint research in STEM fields, and linking scholarship systems.

Cho Jinhyung, Director of External Affairs, stated, "Through this year's EAIE, Chonnam National University has significantly strengthened its foundation for cooperation across Europe, including Northern Europe. We will continue to realize a global campus where education, research, and exchange are organically connected through strategic international partnerships."
