This exhibition is designed to reflect the past and present of Anseong, layered upon the passage of time within this historical space.
"Anseongjang" was recognized as one of the three major markets of the Joseon Dynasty, alongside Jeonju and Daegu, serving as a central hub where merchants and artisans from across the country gathered. Agricultural products, medicinal herbs, livestock, and handicrafts were actively traded here.
The exhibition is organized into two sections. Part 1, "Hall of Memory," revisits the prosperity of the old Anseongjang, where merchants and artisans from all over the country gathered, and looks back on the abundant times created by exchange and trade. Part 2, "Hall of the Present," showcases works by cultural artisans representing Anseong, including brassware, bamboo strainers, and cast metal crafts.
To celebrate the opening exhibition, the city is also holding a social media event. By following the official account of the Cultural Creation Platform, visitors can participate in on-site experiences such as making keyrings featuring representative Anseong objects and crafting bookmarks from traditional Korean paper (hanji).
The Cultural Creation Platform is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. For inquiries, please contact the Culture and Tourism Division of Anseong City Hall.
