Practicing Generous Sharing Through the Hometown Love Donation Program
Jinwook, a singer who ranked 6th among the TOP 7 finalists of 'Mr. Trot 2,' has donated 10 million won to Changwon City, his father's hometown, through the Hometown Love Donation Program.
He contributed the donation to the designated project, the 'Jinhae Cherry Blossom Revival Project,' drawing significant attention and inspiration within the local community.
Jinwook stated, "I wanted to help ensure that Changwon, my father's hometown, continues to uphold its value as a leading tourist city in Korea," adding, "I hope the Jinhae cherry blossoms will bloom even healthier and more beautifully in the future."
The 'Jinhae Cherry Blossom Revival Project' is a major environmental restoration initiative led by Changwon Special City. The project aims to supply nutrients to aging cherry trees, prevent diseases and pests, and create a healthy growth environment.
Through this effort, the city hopes to make the Jinhae Naval Port Festival more sustainable and dynamic, allowing it to evolve and flourish. The donated funds will be used as part of the budget required to implement the project.
Known as the 'Sensitive Artisan,' Jinwook debuted as a singer in his childhood and was called a 'trot prodigy.' He won the top prize in the youth category at the 9th Nam Insoo Song Festival in 2002.
Recently, he released new songs such as <Are You Leaving?> and <Third Time's the Charm>, and has been actively performing on TV, variety shows, and nationwide concert tours. Two years ago, Jinwook also made a large donation to his own hometown of Pyeongtaek through the Hometown Love program, consistently engaging in good deeds. With this latest donation to Changwon, he once again sets an example of sharing for both the local community and the public.
Changwon Special City announced that Jinwook's donation will enable the 'Jinhae Cherry Blossom Revival Project' to be carried out more systematically and efficiently. Additionally, the supply of nutrients to the cherry trees is expected to help the Jinhae Naval Port Festival make a richer and more beautiful comeback.
Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, "We are grateful to Jinwook for his warm generosity, not only through his music career but also through his ongoing acts of kindness. We hope this donation will inspire not only the citizens of Changwon but also many others to take a greater interest in preserving and developing Changwon's culture and natural environment."
