On September 17, the city of Paju, in collaboration with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, held a ceremony to designate a Food Safety Zone at Shinsegae Paju Premium Outlets.
The ceremony was attended by Kim Kyungil, mayor of Paju City, Ahn Youngjin, head of the Seoul Regional Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, Jang Yunseok, manager of Shinsegae Paju Premium Outlets, and other related officials.
The designation of a Food Safety Zone is a project promoted by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety to encourage the restaurant hygiene rating system. Areas where 60% or more of restaurants have received a hygiene rating are designated and managed as Food Safety Zones. Paju City enforces an even stricter standard, managing areas where 80% or more of restaurants have been rated.
This year, Paju City provided consulting support for the restaurant hygiene rating system at Shinsegae Paju Premium Outlets. As a result, 24 out of a total of 26 restaurants, accounting for 92%, received the "Excellent" rating.
Jang Yunseok, manager of Shinsegae Paju Premium Outlets, said, "I would like to thank Paju City and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for their efforts in designating the Food Safety Zone. We will continue to do our best to manage restaurant hygiene so that customers visiting the outlets can enjoy food and beverages with peace of mind."
Kim Kyungil, mayor of Paju City, stated, "With the designation of the Food Safety Zone, Paju City will take the lead in spreading a trustworthy food culture. In addition, we will do our utmost to provide a safe dining environment for all citizens and tourists attending the 36th Gyeonggi-do Sports for All Festival, which will be held from September 26 to 28."
