Previously, in the first half of the year, the district renovated school routes for six schools, including Wonhyo Elementary School. Key achievements include expanding the children's protection zone at Wonhyo Elementary School, installing runway-style crosswalks near Yongsan Elementary School and the National School for the Blind, renovating the sidewalk and improving traffic safety facilities at the main gate of Hangang Elementary School, expanding the sidewalk at Seobinggo Elementary School, constructing a new sidewalk in front of the main gate of Sunrin Middle School, and widening the corner sidewalk in front of Hangang Middle School.
In the second half of the year, the project will target four locations: Itaewon Elementary School, Namjeong Elementary School, Gangbyeon Kindergarten, and Chungsin Kindergarten. At Itaewon Elementary School, a road designed at children's eye level and a safe pick-up and drop-off zone will be introduced. At Namjeong Elementary School and Gangbyeon Kindergarten, separated anti-slip pavement, reflective mirrors, and yellow utility poles will be installed to enhance visibility. At Chungsin Kindergarten, design sidewalk blocks will be installed, and traffic enforcement cameras will be relocated and set up to further improve safety.
Park Heeyoung, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, stated, "We will continue to cooperate closely with the local community and make children's safety our top priority," adding, "We will do our utmost to create safe school routes with the goal of achieving zero traffic accidents within protection zones."
