Discovering Chilgok's Tourism Appeal with the Opening of the Daegyeong Line
Chilgok County in North Gyeongsang Province will host the 2025 "Lucky Chilgok SNS Tourism Photo Contest" to attract individual tourists and revitalize local tourism, taking advantage of improved transportation accessibility through the Daegyeong Line (Daegu-Gyeongbuk Metropolitan Railway), which connects Daegu and Gumi.
The contest, which runs from September 9 for one month until October, invites entries under themes such as "Traveling to Chilgok via the Daegyeong Line," "Lucky Chilgok," and "Eco Chilgok." Anyone who has visited Chilgok is eligible to participate.
To enter the SNS photo contest, participants must upload photos taken after September 1, 2023, to their personal social media accounts, scan the QR code, and submit the link to their uploaded post via an online form. Each participant may submit up to three entries.
A total of 42 winning entries will be selected, including one grand prize winner who will receive 700,000 won. The special prize consists of a travel package worth approximately 200,000 won, including accommodation and experience vouchers for use in Chilgok County.
The selected photos will be used to operate an online photo gallery and to produce tourism postcards, which will be distributed at tourism expos and similar events. In addition, a photo exhibition will be held inside the station in collaboration with Korea Railroad Corporation.
Kim Jaeuk, Governor of Chilgok County, stated, "The SNS Tourism Photo Contest is not simply a photo selection event, but a stepping stone to establish Chilgok as a friendly and attractive travel destination, in line with the new turning point brought by the opening of the Daegyeong Line."
