Three Package Options: Half-Day Canoe, Refreshing Autumn, and Alcohol Trip
Courses Linked with Local Festivals such as Sul Festa and Makguksu Dakgalbi
Aiming to Revitalize the Rural Economy and Generate Sustainable Tourism Demand
Chuncheon City in Gangwon Province is launching a special travel package called "Rural Creatour" this autumn, offering a unique blend of rural experiences, nature, and festivals.
The Rural Creatour initiative, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, is designed to encourage repeat visits from tourists and revitalize the rural economy by combining Chuncheon's natural environment, local festivals, and rural resources.
The newly introduced packages consist of three options: a half-day canoe trip, a refreshing autumn getaway, and the Alcohol Trip. The "Half-Day Canoe Trip" is a same-day program that includes sightseeing at Deungseon Falls, a canoeing experience, and a meal of baeksuk (Korean boiled chicken) in Myeongwol Village. The itinerary continues with trekking on Bungeo Island and a visit to a local food market, allowing participants to enjoy nature, hands-on activities, and local cuisine all in one package. This tour operates every Friday and Saturday, excluding public holidays, until October.
The "Refreshing Autumn Getaway" is a one-night, two-day program available exclusively during the autumn season on Fridays and Saturdays. It offers a rich seasonal experience, including making potato bread in Ginkgo Tree Village, a river cruise and exploration of Gusong Falls, and a tour of Cheongpyeongsa Temple, combining rural activities with the beauty of autumn landscapes.
The Alcohol Trip is a special course linked to Chuncheon's signature "Sul Festa" festival, taking place on the 26th and 27th. The itinerary includes a traditional liquor experience at a local brewery, a visit to Cafe Soul Roastery, Happy Meadow Ranch, a potato bread-making activity in Ginkgo Tree Village, the World Liquor Market, and a tour of Deungseon Falls. This package offers participants the chance to experience the region's brewing culture firsthand and immerse themselves in the lively festival atmosphere.
Additionally, the city is expanding customized tourism content linked to festivals scheduled for next month. Targeting children and families, Chuncheon is introducing the "Taste" travel package in conjunction with the Makguksu Dakgalbi Festival and the "Imagination" package alongside the "Ani-Toy Festival."
Other options, such as the "Romantic Run Trip" (available as a same-day or one-night, two-day package), which combines running with rural experiences, further broaden the choices for travelers.
For inquiries about these packages, visitors can use the "Nonunbeop" app or contact the Chuncheon Rural Experience and Recreation Village Council by phone at 033-251-2515.
Packages can be purchased through the Nonunbeop app or its website.
Hong Misoon, Director of Agricultural Policy, stated, "By organically linking rural resources, urban tourism, and local festivals, these new packages will become Chuncheon's unique tourism content. We expect them to contribute to revitalizing the rural economy by generating sustainable demand for visits."
