"Kim Taehee of EBS" Star Lecturer Kim Hyoeun Appointed as People Power Party Spokesperson

Jang Donghyuk, People Power Party Leader, Presents Appointment Certificates on the 16th

Former EBSi star lecturer Kim Hyoeun (lecturer name Reina) has been appointed as spokesperson for the People Power Party.

On the morning of September 16, People Power Party leader Jang Donghyuk presented appointment certificates to four spokespersons and five media spokespersons at the National Assembly. Kim was appointed as one of the new spokespersons.

Kim is an English education expert who previously worked as an English instructor at EBSi. Despite being responsible for listening classes, a field considered relatively less popular among English courses, she attracted a large number of students and became known as a 'star lecturer.' She was especially nicknamed 'Kim Taehee of EBS' for her resemblance to actress Kim Taehee.

Kim entered politics last year ahead of the 22nd National Assembly election, when Han Donghoon, then interim leader of the People Power Party, recruited her as a young talent.

At that time, she was strategically nominated for the Osan district in Gyeonggi Province but was not elected. During the campaign, all of Kim's "CSAT Special Lecture" videos on EBSi became unavailable for viewing at once, causing significant complaints from students who were studying with her lectures.

The election broadcasting review regulations state that "from 90 days before the election day until the election day, candidates are prohibited from appearing on programs other than news and debate broadcasts, or from having their videos or similar content aired."

At the time, Kim apologized, saying, "This happened because I was unaware of the election-related regulations and did not expect it at all," and added, "I sincerely apologize to the students who experienced inconvenience." Her videos were restored after the election day.

After her defeat, Kim gained further experience by becoming a policy advisor to the Minister of Education in July of the same year. The policy advisor is a special government position equivalent to grade 3. It was later revealed that in July, she was also included in the candidate list for the People Power Party Innovation Committee, led by Assemblyman Ahn Cheolsoo.

Kim graduated from the Department of English Education at Yeungnam University and completed a master's program in English Education at Korea University Graduate School. Except for a two-month completion of the international English teacher training program (TESOL) at Columbia University in the United States, she is a homegrown English instructor who studied exclusively in Korea.

Meanwhile, along with Kim, Son Beomgyu, head of the Incheon Namdong-gu Gap Party Association and former candidate for the Supreme Council at the August 22 party convention, Lee Chung-hyung, former spokesperson of the Central Election Committee, and Cho Yongsul, head of the Goyang-si Eul Party Association in Gyeonggi Province, were also appointed as spokespersons.
