"Jang Donghyuk Must Sever Ties with Jeon Han-gil Now That the Election Is Over"
Assemblyman Kim Yongtae, who previously served as the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, argued that for the normalization of the party and the advancement of democracy, it is necessary to sever ties not only with Kim Eo-jun but also with former Korean history lecturer Jeon Han-gil.
On September 16, Assemblyman Kim appeared on CBS Radio's "Park Jaehong's One-Pan Match" and stated, "Of course Kim Eo-jun should be criticized, but it makes no sense to say Kim Eo-jun is unacceptable while extreme YouTubers in our party are allowed. This kind of logic should be rejected," he said.
He continued, "Recently, both parties have been facing criticism over their ties to extreme YouTubers. Many in our party have criticized Kim Eo-jun, and I have done the same. Some say, 'The Democratic Party speaks with one voice and does well,' but I don't think the People Power Party needs to follow that, and in fact, I believe it is not right for the development of democracy."
Regarding Chairman Jang Donghyeok, Kim added that while he understands that Jeon Han-gil provided strategic help during the party convention, now that Jang is the chairman, he should sever those ties.
Assemblyman Kim said, "During the party convention, our candidates attended events organized by alliances of these extreme YouTubers. Even if that was a strategic decision at the time, now that you are the chairman, you should break away from these extreme YouTubers and move toward becoming a party that truly represents the voices of many citizens." He emphasized that only by ending relationships with extreme YouTubers like Jeon Han-gil can criticism of Kim Eo-jun carry real weight.
