Discount Benefits for Visiting Tourist Attractions
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on September 16 that it had signed a sister city agreement with Ulleung County in Gyeongbuk on the afternoon of September 15, pledging to actively cooperate for the exchange and development of both cities.

Through this sister city agreement, the two cities have decided to establish a mutually beneficial relationship by sharing achievements in community self-governance, facilitating youth and cultural exchanges, and cooperating on direct sales of agricultural and marine products.
According to the agreement, the two cities plan to maintain a cooperative relationship and provide conveniences to improve resident welfare; promote exchanges between local cultural organizations and tourism resources; support the purchase and promotion of local products such as agricultural specialties and manufactured goods; cooperate for the successful hosting of major events such as festivals and expos; share administrative information and best policies; and build a partnership for friendly cooperation in various fields, including economic exchanges.
Yongin City plans to support Ulleung County's development by providing its unique citizen translation and interpretation support program, assisting with private company promotions, participating in direct agricultural market events, and helping to promote festivals at Ulleung County's popular tourist destinations.
In particular, as a result of this sister city agreement, residents of both cities will receive discounts on admission and usage fees at tourist attractions. Yongin citizens visiting Ulleung County will be able to enter the Seommok-Gwaneumdo Bridge, Cheonbu Underwater Observatory, Bongrae Waterfall Tourist District, Suto History Exhibition Hall, and Usan-guk Museum free of charge. In addition, they will receive a 50% discount on the Namsuhil Sunset Observatory Tourist Monorail, Dokdo Observatory Cable Car, and Taeha Hyangmok Tourist Monorail.
Ulleung County residents visiting Yongin will be exempt from admission fees at Yongin's major attractions, including Yongin Natural Recreation Forest and the Rural Theme Park.
Lee Sangil, Mayor of Yongin City, stated, "I hope the opening of Ulleung Airport proceeds smoothly, and Yongin City will actively support Ulleung County's development through the Special Act for Remote Island Support."
Nam Hankwon, Governor of Ulleung County, said, "I greatly value the decision for Ulleung County, which boasts various world-class tourist attractions, and Yongin City, a leading advanced industrial city in Korea centered on the semiconductor industry, to join forces. If Yongin City lends its support to Ulleung County, which is facing challenges such as population decline, I believe we can overcome these difficulties and achieve development together with Yongin."
Meanwhile, with this latest agreement, the number of domestic sister cities for Yongin City has increased to 14. Since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration in July 2022, Yongin City has established sister city ties with eight regions-Sokcho, Danyang, Hampyeong, Jeonju, Gwangyang, Andong, Goesan, and Ulleung-and a friendship city agreement with Pohang, thereby expanding interregional exchange and cooperation.
