Professor Yoonju Lee of the Department of Education at Yeungnam University (President Choi Oechul) was selected as a distinguished contributor in the field of suicide prevention and received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare at the "2025 Suicide Prevention Day Commemoration Ceremony" held on September 10. The commendation for distinguished contributors in suicide prevention is an annual system in which the Ministry of Health and Welfare, based on relevant laws, identifies and honors individuals for their contributions to suicide prevention at the Suicide Prevention Day ceremony.
Professor Lee has served as a board member and advisory committee member of the Youth Suicide Prevention Foundation, and has published numerous books and academic papers on suicide prevention counseling, earning recognition for her academic expertise. In particular, as an evaluator for the Korea Suicide Prevention Center, she has actively participated over the past four years in evaluating suicide prevention projects across 17 metropolitan governments nationwide. By thoroughly analyzing the characteristics and status of each local government and suggesting directions for improvement and implementation of next year's initiatives, she has enhanced the practical effectiveness of suicide prevention policies in the field.
