Seo Kyungduk: "Providing an Excuse for the Use of the Rising Sun Flag"
As the Japanese animated film "Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Arc" has been released, controversy has arisen over a domestic online shopping mall selling products featuring the Rising Sun flag pattern, which appears in the film. The Rising Sun flag is recognized as a symbol of Japanese militarism and imperialism, and is considered a war criminal flag not only in Korea but also in neighboring countries.

Seo Kyungduk, a professor at Sungshin Women's University, stated on his social media account on the 16th, "The online shopping mall is openly selling a variety of products, including keyrings and earrings modeled after the Rising Sun flag earrings worn by the main character in the film."
Professor Seo pointed out that the same issue was raised during the screening of the "Mugen Train Arc," and that similar products are once again being sold this time.
Professor Seo emphasized, "Even if the online shopping mall only provided a platform for 'overseas direct purchases,' selling products featuring the Rising Sun flag pattern without proper verification is clearly wrong," adding, "Such situations only give Japan an excuse to continue using the Rising Sun flag, so we must be especially cautious."
He also stressed, "It is extremely important to understand the basic history and public sentiment of the countries where products are sold," and urged major domestic online shopping malls to take swift corrective action.
