Youngjin College (President Choi Jaeyoung) announced on September 16 that it will establish a new two-year “AI Computer Security Department” starting in the 2026 academic year, offering hands-on education that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. This strategic decision aims to respond to the rapidly increasing demand for cybersecurity in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and to nurture practical talents with strong domestic and international employability.
The newly established AI Computer Security Department is a specialized program that has been separated from the existing AI Computer Security major within the three-year Computer Information Department, further strengthening its focus. The program builds on the department’s achievement of ranking first in employment rates among computer science departments outside the Seoul metropolitan area (81.9%, based on the Ministry of Education’s 2025 announcement). The curriculum is centered on practical training, aiming to produce graduates who are ready to enter the workforce immediately upon graduation.

The AI Computer Security Department will provide integrated education that combines core IT technologies such as hacking, security, networking, and cloud computing with the latest AI technologies. Students will enhance their adaptability to real-world environments through “project-based practical training” utilizing cutting-edge infrastructure, including Cisco network equipment and AWS cloud environments.
In particular, the program requires all students to obtain at least one industry-essential certification before graduation, such as the CCNA AWS certification, Information Processing Industrial Engineer, and Information Security Industrial Engineer.
The capabilities of students in the existing AI Computer Security major have been proven through their achievements in domestic and international competitions. They have won silver and bronze medals at the “APJC NetAcad Riders Challenge” hosted by Cisco, the world’s largest networking company, placed third in the AI Model Challenge national competition, and earned a silver medal at the 2025 AI Convergence Hackathon, among many other accolades.
Youngjin College provides students with a world-class educational environment through government-funded projects and corporate partnerships. The Innovative Convergence University Project (2021-2026) is the only one among national colleges to be selected in the AI field, receiving 1.1 to 1.2 billion KRW in annual government funding. The RISE Track ABB Specialized Education Program (2025-2029) invests 300 million KRW annually. Additional investments and support, such as expanding advanced equipment, facilitating industry exchanges, and supporting field trips, provide a solid foundation for students to gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment and in global workplaces.
Graduates of the AI Computer Security Department are expected to enter a wide range of fields, including domestic IT companies, computer centers of financial institutions, security specialist firms, and AI/web/app development companies. Through employment programs with Japanese and other overseas companies, they are also expected to play active roles on the global stage.
Ryu Yonghee, Head Professor of the AI Computer Security Department, stated, “We will do our utmost to help students grow into global security experts with the support of government-funded projects and corporate scholarships, enabling them to excel both domestically and internationally. Through our differentiated education that integrates AI and security, we will nurture the next generation of IT leaders who will lead the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”
