"Saturday Pregnant Women's Day" Receives the Highest Score at 96.9 Points
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor: Shin Sangjin) announced that the overall citizen satisfaction score for its pregnancy and childbirth support programs averaged 90.8 points, indicating a "very excellent" level.
On September 16, the city stated that it had commissioned With Research, an academic research and survey institution, to conduct a survey of 110 participants in three pregnancy and childbirth support programs, including the "Saturday Pregnant Women's Day" initiative, and obtained these results.
Among the three programs surveyed, the "Saturday Pregnant Women's Day" received the highest score at 96.9 points, followed by the Oriental Medicine Infertility Treatment Support at 88.5 points, and the Maternity Class for Expectant Mothers at 86.9 points.
These scores represent the results of analyzing responses to 39 questions (across the three programs), converted to a 100-point scale. The Public Customer Satisfaction Index (PCSI 2.0) model was applied, dividing satisfaction into seven levels: "very satisfied" (100-85.7 points), "satisfied" (85.6-71.4 points), and so on, based on the score.
The program with the highest satisfaction score, "Saturday Pregnant Women's Day," is held at three public health centers-Sujeong, Jungwon, and Bundang-on the third Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to noon, specifically for working pregnant women and others.
The program offers basic blood tests for liver, kidney, diabetes, and anemia, as well as urine tests, and provides prenatal care services such as folic acid and iron supplements. Any pregnant woman or engaged/newlywed couple whose resident registration address is in Seongnam City can participate free of charge.
The Oriental Medicine Infertility Treatment Support Program has been implemented in collaboration with the Seongnam Korean Medicine Association since 2014. Every year, 15 applicants from Jungwon District Public Health Center receive up to 1.8 million won worth of herbal medicine over a three-month period.
Eligible participants are men or women residing in Seongnam City who have been diagnosed with infertility. Both spouses can receive herbal medicine within the maximum support amount.
The Maternity Class for Expectant Mothers offers programs such as prenatal talk therapy, flower therapy, newborn rhythm massage, practical newborn care, baby product making, and prenatal and postnatal emotional care, providing comprehensive information on practical childcare.
Each of the three district health centers recruits 10 to 40 participants per session, operating four sessions per month from March to October each year. Pregnant women residing in Seongnam City and their spouses are eligible to participate, and there is no separate participation fee.
A Seongnam City official stated, "This survey was conducted to reflect the voices from the field regarding 'Seongnam as a great place to have and raise children' and to increase citizen participation and satisfaction," adding, "We will continue to pursue citizen-centered, detailed support policies throughout the process of preparing for pregnancy and childbirth."
