To mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the San Diego Museum of Art in the western United States, the special exhibition "From the Renaissance to Impressionism: The San Diego Museum of Art Special Exhibition" will be held at the Sejong Museum of Art in the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul starting November 5. The exhibition features works spanning 600 years of Western art history, from the Renaissance to Modernism.

The exhibition is organized into five sections: the Renaissance period, Baroque painting, Rococo to Enlightenment, Realism to Impressionism, and Impressionism to Modernism.

This exhibition will showcase "The Conversion of Mary Magdalene" by Luini, a disciple of da Vinci who is highly regarded for his achievements. This work, by an artist described as "the leading painter of the da Vinci studio who most elegantly translated Leonardo da Vinci's sensuous sfumato technique into his own visual language," was considered so similar to da Vinci's own works that it was classified as such until recently.

Works by Hieronymus Bosch, regarded as a pioneer of the Early Netherlandish school, will be introduced to Korea for the first time through this exhibition. Bartolom? Bermejo, a prominent 15th-century Spanish artist, will also make his Korean debut. In addition, a work by Sofonisba Anguissola, a rare female painter from the Renaissance era, will be unveiled in Korea for the first time.

Masterpieces by Peter Paul Rubens, who transformed the perception of artists from "craftsmen" to "geniuses," and Anthony van Dyck, the official court painter to the British royal family-such as "Portrait of Queen Henrietta Maria of England"-will also be presented at this exhibition. Visitors will also be able to appreciate "Haystacks at Chailly" by Claude Monet, the founder of Impressionism, and "Young Shepherdess" by William-Adolphe Bouguereau, a master of the academic school.

The exhibition will run until February 22 next year. Reservations can be made on Naver starting on the 18th. Admission is charged.
