The lingering late summer heat is expected to continue on Tuesday, September 16.
Heat wave advisories have been issued for parts of the southern coast of Jeollanam-do, the Gyeongsang region, and coastal areas of Jeju Island. In the southern regions, the maximum perceived temperature is expected to reach around 33 degrees Celsius.
Most parts of the country will be mostly cloudy, while Jeju Island is expected to see partly cloudy skies at times.
From the late dawn hours through the evening, most regions nationwide will experience very strong showers accompanied by gusty winds, thunder, and lightning. Expected rainfall amounts are 5 to 60 millimeters in the Seoul metropolitan area, Daejeon, Sejong, Chungcheongnam-do, and the Jeolla region; and 5 to 40 millimeters in inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, Chungcheongbuk-do, the Gyeongsang region, and Jeju Island. Some areas of Jeju Island may receive more than 60 millimeters of showers.
In the central region, excluding the east coast of Gangwon, and in northern Jeollabuk-do, rain may fall from late at night.
Fine dust concentrations are expected to range from 'good' to 'moderate' levels nationwide.
Wave heights are forecast to be 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the coastal waters of the East Sea and South Sea, and 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the coastal waters of the West Sea. In offshore waters, wave heights are expected to be 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the East Sea and South Sea, and 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the West Sea.
On the east coast, high waves caused by swells may crash strongly onto sandy beaches, so caution is advised to prevent coastal safety accidents.
