First Regular Parliamentary Interpellation of the Lee Jaemyung Administration
Kim Minseok: "Overcoming Insurrection Is Korea's Greatest Challenge"
During the first regular parliamentary interpellation session of the Lee Jaemyung administration, Prime Minister Kim Minseok criticized Song Eonseok, floor leader of the People Power Party, regarding his remarks about the Nosangwon notebook, stating, "While there are times when political disputes occur, I have always believed that it is best to maintain the most basic standards."
At the political affairs interpellation session held at the National Assembly’s main building in Yeouido on the 15th, Prime Minister Kim responded to Democratic Party lawmaker Park Sungjun, who asked, "If the Nosangwon notebook had become reality, both President Lee Jaemyung and Speaker Woo Wonsik would be wandering the afterlife. Upon hearing Song Eonseok say, 'I wish it had happened, I really wish it had,' what were your thoughts?"
Previously, on the 9th, Democratic Party leader Jeong Cheongrae stated during a parliamentary negotiation group speech, "If the Nosangwon notebook had succeeded in becoming reality, neither Lee Jaemyung nor Jeong Cheongrae would still be alive." In response, floor leader Song Eonseok remarked, "I really wish it had happened." The Democratic Party criticized Song and demanded his resignation.
After Prime Minister Kim’s response, Representative Park emphasized, "I believe floor leader Song should resign from his position and also step down as a lawmaker." Democratic Party lawmakers applauded this statement.
Representative Park further questioned, "During the party leadership election, Jang bowed to Jeon Hangil, a far-right YouTuber known for chanting 'Yoon Again,' and became the People Power Party leader. The day before, he was seen greeting Son Hyeonbo, a pastor who led an anti-impeachment rally, and other remnants of rebellion. Do you believe such actions are appropriate for the leader of the People Power Party?"
Prime Minister Kim responded, "There are times when Chairman Jang shows or expresses a somewhat different stance from far-right tendencies," adding, "I hope he continues to move in such a positive direction." He continued, "Overcoming insurrection is currently the greatest challenge facing the Republic of Korea," and pledged, "I will do my utmost to overcome it."
Meanwhile, when Representative Park proposed, "To realize a government based on popular sovereignty, we need to create a space to launch a national campaign for collecting data and energy, similar to the Saemaul Movement and the gold-collecting campaign, as part of our artificial intelligence (AI) policy, which is being promoted as the top strategic industry," Prime Minister Kim replied, "I will consider it."
Additionally, when Representative Park asked about a policy where citizens would receive a 10,000 won consumption coupon for every 50,000 won they spend in order to generate a multiplier effect, Prime Minister Kim said, "That is a good suggestion."
