On the 15th, Kang Yujeong, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, stated during a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office, "There have been many regulations in industrial and everyday life settings that desperately needed resolution but were entangled in sharp conflicts and disagreements." She explained, "The Core Regulatory Rationalization Strategy Meeting was established to resolve the web of regulations that are holding back new industries."

Starting with the first meeting, President Lee plans to join forces with academia, experts, and relevant ministries to discuss core regulations that are obstructing the growth of new industries such as youth, jobs, data, autonomous driving, and robotics. On this day, about 60 participants, including startup CEOs, academic experts, and ministers from the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, will attend.

The main agenda items for the meeting include rationalizing data utilization regulations to become one of the top three global powers in artificial intelligence (AI), rationalizing regulations in the autonomous driving and robotics industries as engines of future industries, and promoting corporate growth and rationalizing economic criminal penalties for economic innovation. Spokesperson Kang stated, "Measures will be discussed to open up more public data more easily so that companies can use copyright data for AI learning without concern." She added, "There are plans to significantly expand demonstration zones for autonomous driving pilot operations and to overhaul unnecessary regulations to facilitate the introduction of robots in industrial settings."

Discussions on rationalizing economic criminal penalties, such as easing the crime of breach of trust, will also begin in earnest. Since taking office, President Lee has repeatedly emphasized in meetings with business leaders that "corporate growth is synonymous with economic growth." He has also stated that rationalizing the crime of breach of trust is necessary as part of easing corporate regulations. Spokesperson Kang explained, "President Lee is determined to personally remove web-like regulations with the resolve that unnecessary regulatory hurdles must not remain."
