Momentum for Projects in Disaster Safety, Environment, and Tourism
Special Grant Secured for Permanent Restoration of Heavy Rain Damage
Sancheong County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on September 15 that a significant number of local priority projects have been included in the government's 2026 budget proposal.
This achievement is attributed to the county's persistent efforts since February, including holding briefings on securing national funding and actively visiting central government ministries such as the Ministry of Economy and Finance, as well as the National Assembly, to emphasize the necessity of the projects.
In particular, the inclusion of various new projects related to disaster safety, the environment, and tourism is expected to accelerate project implementation.
The newly included projects amount to a total project cost of 98.7 billion won and include: 300 million won for the Oejeong District rural village sewage maintenance project (total project cost: 9.7 billion won); 300 million won for the Jusang District rural village sewage maintenance project (total project cost: 6.7 billion won); 300 million won for the Naedae District rural village sewage maintenance project (total project cost: 5 billion won); 700 million won for the Daepo District flood risk area maintenance project (total project cost: 22.9 billion won); 300 million won for the incineration facility installation project (total project cost: 25.7 billion won); 100 million won for the resource recovery center installation project (total project cost: 7.1 billion won); 300 million won for the landmark forest tourism garden project (total project cost: 18 billion won); 450 million won for the Danseong agricultural machinery rental center expansion project (total project cost: 2.5 billion won); and 800 million won for the smart village dissemination and expansion project (total project cost: 1.1 billion won).
Additionally, the county has secured a special grant of 19.3 billion won for the permanent restoration of areas damaged by extreme heavy rainfall, expediting the return to normalcy for residents.
Sancheong County also plans to make every effort to secure national funding for projects whose budgets have not yet been finalized, such as government contest projects and block grants, by working closely with the Ministry of Economy and Finance and members of the National Assembly.
Governor Lee Seunghwa stated, "We are currently mobilizing all available administrative resources to help residents return to their daily lives as quickly as possible," adding, "We will continue to do our utmost to secure national funding to create a safer and more pleasant living environment."
