On September 14, the Innovation Party for the Homeland announced that it had completed the formation of its emergency response committee, consisting of a total of nine members: Chairman Cho Kuk, two vice chairpersons, and six committee members.
In a press release distributed that day, the Innovation Party for the Homeland stated that Um Kyusook, former Vice President of Kyung Hee Cyber University, and Seo Wangjin, floor leader, were appointed as vice chairpersons. The committee members include Kim Hobum, advisor to the Innovation Party; Lee Jaewon, CEO of the non-profit organization Ieum; Woo Heejong, chairman of the Yesan Life Foundation; Yoon Solji, producer of the Sewol ferry documentary "Ten Years of Sinking, Zero-Sum"; Jung Hansook, head of the women's committee of the Daegu branch of the Innovation Party; and one directly elected female official from among the female party staff below the department head level.
The party explained, "The emergency response committee sought to bring in individuals best suited to restore trust and devise innovative solutions to overcome the crisis," adding, "We decided not to include legal professionals, as we believe that communication beyond legal judgment is crucial in reflecting the will of the victims."
The emergency response committee will hold its first meeting at the National Assembly on the morning of September 15.
